Mountains, plains and hills

As already mentioned are scarce in Puglia mountainous areas, are represented only by the mountains of Daunia and Gargano. But there are some hills in the north all belonging to the chain of Daunia as the Monte Cornacchia (1151 m.), Monte Saraceno (1145 m). In the northern part of Gargano is located on Bald Mountain (1065 m). The flat part, which represents about 50% of the territory is formed by the tables, about 3000 km ², from the lowest part of the Murge and the Salento Peninsula

Cuisine and Wine The main ingredients of the cuisine of Puglia are representatives of a simple, wholesome food: pasta, olive oil and wine.
The typical dish which is worldwide in this region are surely the orecchiette with broccoli and anchovies, homemade pasta in the shape of shells with typical condiment.
Among the first there are the macaroni and rue, a special soup of beans, rolls and lamb among the latter, the scapece of Gallipoli (pupiddi fried, very tasty fish, marinated in vinegar and saffron), trudging mussels (cooked baked with tomato, oregano, garlic, parsley and white wine).
